چکیده
Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench, commonly known as okra, is one of the most widely used vegetable crops currently for diabetes treatment well. It thought that large amount soluble dietary fibers present in okra responsible slowing absorption glucose from gut. However, its role concomitant administration with prescribed medications, including metformin (MET) and acarbose (ACR) diabetes, unclear. Therefore, this study assessed effect A. pod extract (AEE) administered concomitantly MET ACR glucose-induced hyperglycemic mice model. The AEE was prepared using green pods. In experiment, each male Swiss Webster mouse a 2.5 gm/kg/BW dose via gastric lavage to induce hyperglycemia. experimental animals were divided into five groups: (i) negative control, (ii) positive (iii) only, (iv) ACR, (v) MET, AEE. orally doses 150 mg/kg/BW, 15 0.2 mL/kg/BW, respectively. We found only combination reduced levels significantly (p < 0.01) compared control. On other hand, when simultaneously, synergistic antihyperglycemic action diminished. After min, blood level 4.50 ± 0.189 mmol/L 6.58 0.172 (v). This suggests taking concurrently would reduce effectiveness antidiabetic drugs; thereby, these agents not recommended. provides an essential basis decision-making about consumption conventional medicine. Further required find molecular insight drug interactions therapy medicinal plants diabetes.

The research was performed to define the effect of water deficit on early growth, biomass allocation and biochemical constituents, proline metabolism and yield of five varieties of bhendi (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench.) plants. We found that there were significant differences in early growth, dry matter accumulation, biochemical constituents and proline metabolism among the five varieties...
متن کاملIn-vitro Synergistic Effect of Metformin and Berberine on High Glucose-induced Lipogenesis
Metformin and berberine have been reported to have lipid lowering effects. This study aims to investigate lipid lowering effects of berberine and metformin, alone and in combination, in HepG2 cells to determine whether berberine and metformin work synergistically and elucidate their mechanisms. HepG2 cells were treated with 33 mM glucose in the presence of various concentrations of berberine an...
متن کاملEffect of cropping arrangements and rainfall on the performance of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) in Bauchi State, Nigeria
Field experiments were conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria during the farming seasons of 1997-1999. The objective of the experiments was to establish the effects of cropping arrangements and rainfall on the performance of two varieties of okra plant (Indian long white and short local varieties) in terms of flower and fruit initiation...
